10/27/2014 Update:
Oso has moved to his regular foster home and LOVES his foster friends. He is looking great and doing even greater. Oso even got to attend our "Bark In The Park" event yesterday and was a perfect gentleman - ready to play, give kisses, or just spread the TSBR message of hope.
Oso still needs some time to continue recovering his immune system, coat, and then to be neutered before being ready for his own forever home. Oso would love to make someone specials holiday perfect.
So stay tuned as we all watch Oso's journey unfold!
10/8/2014 Update:
Oso is improving so much its amazing to watch. His skin is returning to normal although still warm in places. His hair has begun to regrow all over. His pads are healthier and he can now walk and play without them bleeding. Oso still has a couple of months before he should be the handsome boy he was meant to be, but every day he is getting better and it shows!
Oso is crate trained, good with dogs and people, and LOVES fetching a ball.
Stick around and watch the miracle unfold...this boy is one to watch for sure!
9/20/2014:
This male yellow Labrador Retriever is just 7-8 months old, but it took him suffering to the point he had lost all pigmentation in his pads that they are were bleeding and raw, almost all his hair was gone, and his skin was so red he looked sunburn, for his owners to decide that it would be easier to take him to the shelter than to the vet! He has been suffering like this for likely most of his short life.
What should be treatable and simple to help early on, became a systemic skin infection, and compromised immune system. He came to us with swollen lymph nodes and skin so hot to touch we wept at the pain he must have felt to be petted.
BUT...hope arrived when The Big White Harley's Hope Truck made the 9 hour roadtrip to save another desperate neglected pup... and Oso's tail is still waggin. His spirit is just begging to get to be all things a beloved Lab should be...
We KNOW that with the LOVE and support of the best rescue friends around...he will be OOO-so very handsome in no time!
Oso has a tough road ahead of him for sure and it won't be fast but we are pretty sure he already knows that life got better the moment he hopped up into the Big White Truck.
Demodex is NOT contagious and treatment is based around oral medications and skin care. He doesn't smell fabulous, but we haven't told him that ...
We simply couldn't walk out and leave him behind!
