Mr. Dobbs

he stole our hearts

April 11, 2007 - May 18, 2014

Dobbs came to TSBR from a hunting ranch, where he spent the first almost 7 years as a professional hunting dog. Moving to a small house in the suburbs might have been overwhelming for many dogs...but Dobbs never missed a beat - fast forward through only a month and he mastered the dog door, slept in his open door crate, and had free run of the home while his foster was away.

Dobbs learned, and LOVED to play ball with Joe the cocker spaniel; his foster dog-sister Lannie Sue had a dog crush on him, and he filled "momma's" heart with his goofy "handsome dog" ways.

Sadly, we lost our beloved Dobbs on Sunday, May 18th to liver failure. Dobbs was loved by all who knew him and lived out his last days with amazing dignity.

Sunshine not only reflected off this beautiful boys coat
but from his heart.

Dobbs was the first dog rescued under the Meatball Memorial Fund in honor of our beloved ambassadog. Contributions provide funds to help save last call and special needs Black Labrador Retrievers. Help us help the next deserving dog get a chance to be loved like Dobbs!

Zee-O "Zero"

Rescued Just in Time...

"Zero" was rescued from Rockwall on August 1, 2013.

On August 15, 2013 his Liver ruptured from massive metastatic cancer. His final week was amazing. At just 3yrs old - no one had any clue he was near his end.

Thank you to everyone for making sure his last days were spent out of the shelter.

To our foster Lori - thank you for loving him, and sharing with him your little piece of "pointer heaven" on earth. We appreciate you, and are truly sorry for this loss.

CoCo Puff (Dallas)

We will miss you Coco Puff

2011 - August 2012

A beautiful 11 month, old full of life Chocolate Lab who will be missed by all who knew her and especially her Lab sisters and parents.

Please Please vaccinate your dogs!! If they are under a year they must have 3 rounds of shots to develop immunity...many canine diseases are COMPLETELY PREVENTABLE with a couple of 10$ shots. Go to the feed store, low cost clinic, or ask your local shelter if you can't afford them - Unvaccinated dogs suffer!

Dumping them at a shelter unvaccinated or under-vaccinated is a death sentence!

Coco's Obsidian Strike

Earning Her Wings Gracefully

January 5, 2000 - January 5, 2012

Our sweet Sidney -”Bomber” aka…Sidnerella, Godzilla, Tasmanian Devil, Stalker girl…has earned her wings.

Sidney taught us all so much about being brave and never giving up the “Good Fight”, and she taught me to be a better trainer, benevolent leader, and dog mom.

Sidnerella despite being the consummate alpha female, made everyone her friend; dogs, people and furry’s alike…she made everyone smile and all of us occasionally laugh while screaming!

Some of her favorite highlights over the last 12 years were helping rehabilitate and train hundreds and hundreds of dogs, many of whom would have been euthanized, showing nearly 165 new born foster puppies the ropes after they were weaned from their mamas, searching for and finding 7 dogs that had been missing for 24hrs or longer, including 2 for DFW Lab Rescue, and her most prized memory – earning her nickname “Bomber” by being one of the best tactical dogs around.

August 26, 2011 she joined the ranks of the many fearless Tripawds who have gone before her, after losing her right front leg to a rare highly aggressive form of Fibro Sarcoma. In true Sidney fashion she was up and outside in just a day and retrieving at the lake in just 4 weeks. She proved very quickly that it was us humans that have the hang ups with physical appearance and see them as limits. Sidney knew NO LIMITS!

November and December found her out teaching children about physical differences, sharing about “Tripawds” with the public, and being an honorary ambassadog to help raise funds for dogs in need.

We spent her last day swimming and exploring at Denison Dam, Texoma – a favorite haunt where she loved to train her whole life. We ate chicken sandwiches and fries and chased and chased and chased her good cuz!

When sunset came she laid down in the field where she had first met her favorite vet team 12 years ago and who have cared for her since she was 7weeks old. Surrounded by friends and family she passed gracefully Thursday at 5:21pm.

Fly our sweet black angel…we love you and you will be missed!
